Back on the Nature Coast

Image
We’ve been settling in the past few days.  Laundry, reorganizing, shopping at the farm stand, etc.  We’re getting back in the habit of getting the kids out for a few laps too.  Our area of the park is pretty quiet, currently no one behind us and there is no spot in front of us.   I applied for a job at a local hardware store that I could walk to easily from the trailer.  We’ll see how that turns out.  I haven’t checked with the park owner yet to see if they could use some help around here.  Maybe if I see him this weekend.   Yesterday we got the paddle boards out.  I hadn’t put mine in the water yet as it came in just before I had to go back to Michigan.  We put in at Manatee Springs after walking the boardwalk and checking the spring out.  About 100 yards down from the launch, a 5’ gator jumped in the water and swam away from us.  This was the end of Katy’s paddle.   I went back to the launch with her before paddling down...

In FL, but first the meats.

Monday we drove down to Bluffton GA and managed to take the back roads and highways for most of the drive.  Northern Alabama and GA are pretty nice and have more topography than I remember.  I guess we didn’t roll through these parts of GA before.   We stayed in a pasture at White Oak Pastures in Bluffton GA.  They are a 6 generation family run regenerative farm.  What Will Harris and his family have done is really impressive.  This was our third stop at WOP and we will continue to support their hard work.  We bought a bunch of meat, some other goods and had dinner and breakfast on the farm.  Our stay was nice an pretty quiet for the most part.  Again, we will be back up there at some point.   Yesterday we drove down to Levy county where we will stay for the next 7 months.  We stopped and finished Katy’s background check for the school and came to the park to set up.  It was 86* and a little spicy for set up.  I may have s...

Back to Chatt

Yesterday we went back into town and did some more exploring.  We did a quick driving tour and then stumbled upon the Sunday Market.  It was very impressive, there had to be a couple hundred vendors.   On a side note, Naked River Brewery is right there too.  They have some good beers, Tennessee cider and some great chicken wings.  The house wing rub is really good.  Katy had the Moon Pie beer and said it was pretty unique.  I tried a small sip and it was OK.   We then headed over by the train station and checked out some shops in the area before our Chattanooga Whiskey Tour.  @chattwhiskey has a fun tour and tasting experience.  Our tour guide Kyle was very knowledgeable on the whiskey making process and prohibition in Chatt.  We’d also like to thank Emma for the warm welcome and Trinity and Ethan for the pours at the end of the tour.   We enjoyed the tasting and tour.  There are 6-7 samples at the end.  We really enj...
