Go East, finally.

  9/25/25:     We slow rolled the morning and ran out of fresh water.     We left just before 10 with a sink full of dirty dishes.     It was already starting to get warm, another cloudless day.     The excitement for the morning was seeing someone leave the campground with a storage door open on their trailer.     I ran them down in crocs and sweats.     The crocs weren’t even in 4x4.     I was pretty happy with myself.     We drove the longer route to avoid towing through the NP.    In retrospect, it may have been the better choice.    We took on fuel in Livingston and got rid of our trash.    We chatted with family as we headed east on the 90.    We took a detour towards Cody and it was getting hot.    The battery system in the rig was having a hard time keeping the fridge and our portable freezer running due to the heat.    We did stop in B...

More Yellowstone

  9/23-24/25:     Two beautiful days in Yellowstone NP.    Cool crisp mornings, warm afternoons and not a cloud in the sky for two days.    As I write this on the morning of 9/25, there are still no clouds in the sky.    We got into the park at 9:00 and 8:00 respectively.   The morning of 9/23 was cold and frost held in the shadows until 11 or so, in higher elevations.    We headed down the west side of the park towards Old Faithful.    The geothermal features were putting up so much steam in the cold air, it was beautiful.    We hiked artist paintpots and a few other short hikes.    Grand Prismatic was packed with people, too many to enter on the way south.   We pushed down to Old Faithful and surprisingly it wasn’t packed.    The viewing area may have expanded since we were last here.    We only had to wait about 25 minutes before the eruption.    I fo...
