Glacier Day 3

Image
Yesterday we headed back into the park for the last day of our pass.  We drove up to Logan’s pass for a hike but the lot was closed.  We continued down to Sun Point and Barkng Falls.  There was a nice hike there and the views were great.   During our travels, we saw a moose, Mountain Goats and Big Horn Sheep.  The weather cooperated all three days we were here.  So lucky to snag a pass, get a camping spot and have good weather.   After our little hike we went further east to the Saint Mary Boat Launch and turned around.  We made a few stops in the park on our way back to see some more vistas.  We also stopped at the Lake McDonald Lodge which reminded us of Crater Lake Lodge.  We had a drink and sat by the lake, it was the perfect way to cap off our trip.   Outside the park we did a quick shop and found some Hucks for our KOA.  They are not at peak yet and kind of expensive.  We had ribs at the restaurant at West Glacier KO...

Yesterday we got up and walked the dogs around the park.  This is the nicest KOA we’ve been to it has quite a few amenities.  The restaurant is good, they were busy but it was worth the wait for breakfast.  They have two pools, a family pool and an adults only pool.  Bonus!   We took another quick lap with the kids after breakfast and then headed into the park to paddle and fish.  Our first stop was Glacier Anglers to get some recommendations and supplies.  They were very helpful and we were on our way in a few minutes.  We got into the park with no issues and made our way to a nice “beach” on the lake.  The electric pump worked great and got us on the water quickly and not tired from working on two boards.   This paddle was one of our favorites.  The water is so clear and the scenery is a 10.  It was also glass calm and we had the water to ourselves.  When we got back to shore, there were two people manually pumping their...

This past week has gone by pretty quickly.  Work was fun without having to walk 13 miles with a mower or weed eater. Maybe next week or the week after because it’s been hot.   I met with an old co-worker and had lunch at the VFW.  Tarquin was the Swiss Army knife of BPD.  He also has Jeopardy level knowledge of most things.  It was nice seeing him for an hour and hearing how retirement is working out for him.   On Saturday morning I woke up and snagged a pass for Glacier NP and The Sun road.  The ride up to the park and Logan Pass in particular is pretty far from Polson and the pass is good for 3 days.  Katy got up and got online to find a spot to stay closer to the park.  It is hot so we needed hookups for the pups.  We tried a Boondockers Welcome, but then found a back in spot w/e at West Glacier KOA.   Yesterday we got up early, packed the trailer for the first time in 3 months and hit the road.  We stopped at Costco for a f...
