The End of 24’
As 2024 comes to a close, we are in a cabin near Show Low AZ. This area is beautiful at first glance and we will be here for a week. It reminds us of Bend/Sisters, but it’s way smaller. This is the first time Katy has been out of the RV since 12/1/20. We are looking forward to exploring this area. We hope everyone had a great Christmas and that you all have a happy New Year!
We took a trip up to Tucson and stayed at Catalina State Park. It was a great trip and we enjoyed the lights at the botanical gardens. The state park is great and really spread out. We also had a seRV event with Full Time Families, where we made cards for the kids and families at Ronald McDonald House. It was an amazing event and we enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones. The kids who participated were awesome, they helped us set up and tear down.
The next day we co-hosted another event in Sierra Vista. We partnered with Wreaths Across America to place wreaths on the headstones at the Veterans Cemetery. The event was way bigger than we anticipated. There were approximately 3,700 cemeteries across the US and 1,000,000 people signed up. There were hundreds of people in SV and many hands make light work. Katy and I were able to complete two rows of headstones. This is something we will do yearly from now on.
Christmas was pretty low key. We stuck to ourselves and made a great lasagna with Beccos for Christmas Eve. Christmas Day we smoked a Turkey breast that we had brined for 24 hours. If only it tasted as good as it looked.
We’ve done a little more exploring near Sierra Vista. The weather has been very stable. Mid 60’s to mid 70’s during the day and 40-50 at night. We went out to a few more wineries in Sonoita and liked them all. Katy’s ribs are doing really well. Work has been pretty slow for me, but Katy picked up two jobs last week. She is going to be working at Tombstone Brewing Co and subbing for Sierra Vista schools. We’ll see how it goes, they both pay the same.
I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but in all honesty this is more of a memory boost for us when and if we stop this traveling lifestyle. Happy New Year and thanks for following along. Have a great 2025! Tom and Katy
