A Ride Through Napa Valley

After getting laundry done this weekend, we took a ride up Silverado Trail.  Diesel is $3.80 a gallon here by the way.  Everything is more expensive here.  The ride north along the trail was very cool.  There are between 700-800 wineries in Napa Valley.  We stopped at Rombauer because we recognized it and love their Chardonnay.  The fire damage from The Glass Fire complex is crazy in the north valley.  Our assistant Kevin was very knowledgeable and talked about all the grapes that couldn’t be used due to smoke taint.  The tasting was very nice and then we headed for St Supery for a tasting that was set up by our friends James and Jaime.  The winery was very cool and the pours were 👌.

We got back in the truck and made the ride up to Calistoga for some Busters BBQ.  The tri tip sando was good and the sauce was Louisiana red style.

Later in the day we met up with our friend Chuck at his house for dinner.  We also got to see Maggie’s mom, Gracie.  Good dinner, wine and company.

Sorry about the late post, these will likely be back to back with today’s events.

  1. After all the stories on the news about the fires in Napa Valley, it was good to see how beautiful the place still is. Our family was there last in 1987 0r 1988. A long road trip from Toronto to Lompoc, California to visit my grandma, Tom's great grandma.
