Don’t walk off trail in the Desert
we started the day with a great desert sunrise and ended with an equally impressive sunset. The time in between was spent in Joshua Tree National Park. What a unique and changing landscape. The desert can be an inhospitable place even when it’s no over 100*. The basin was cool, the Ocotillo (minus the graffiti) on the board and the Cholla Cactus were visited in the first half of the park.
I should note that we came in from the south off the I-10 and made our way north. While taking the short hike through the Cholla, a girl who was probably 10-12 walked into one. She sounded like she was in excruciating pain as her mom held her still and her dad pulled the barbs or quills out. OUCH.
The second half of the park included the Joshua Trees and the amazing rock formations. With a bunch of the rocks you think “how in the world is this here or why is it here.” The overlook at Keys View was worth the extra drive.
All of the campgrounds are closed, but we did walk through them and scouted a few places. We exited the park through the town of Joshua Tree and made our way back to the RV Park. #fordsuperdutydiesel #nowater #nps #npsofinstagram #getoutside #getoutandhike

Sunrise and sunset beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAppears to have been a beautiful day. Warm.
It was high 40s to mid 50s up high in the park and low 70s down in the valley. Have you been here before?
