Hanging out in Napa

Today is Sunday the 13th it has been raining pretty hard all night.  We have about 8 square feet of dry gravel under the awning.  We arrived in Napa on Friday afternoon and got set up.  The ride down the 5 and 505 was pretty easy.  The 80 W towards San Francisco is 5 lanes and you couldn’t tell there is a stay at home order in effect.  All of a sudden, cars and trucks were swerving and slamming on their brakes.  First thought... bad wreck ahead.

The F250 has large brakes, an engine brake and built in trailer braking.  We came to a complete stop from 60 in no time for a couch that fell off a truck.  The truck and trailer combo we are driving and living in is perfect.

The town of Napa is a lot bigger than I thought, nearly 80,000.  We went for a quick grocery shop at Railey’s, drove through downtown and checked out the Oxbow Market.  We ended the day with a dog walk, cribbage, Sequence and lotto tix...no winner.

Saturday we got up around 7, I spent two hours on the phone with Apple Support trying to get 10 days of pictures back from our San Juan Islands trip.  We did a kettlebell and Rogue Band workout and took the dogs for a walk in the park.  Speaking of the park, we are at Skyline Wilderness just outside Napa proper.  It’s a nice park with hiking and biking, archery and disc golf.  We headed into downtown Napa and checked out some shops.

Our friend Chuck from Trahan winery hooked us up with a tasting.  His guy Lawrence at the winery was a 11 out of 10. Based on his recommendations we had a late lunch at Clemete’s which is an old school Italian restaurant inside Val’s liquor store.  It was delicious.  We split a sandwich, a few Ravs and Malfati.

We got back to the park around 4 and took the kids for a few laps around the park.  Great day.

  1. Like the sound of the restaurant where you ate. Nice to have a friend to give those kind of recommendations.
