San Diego and the Silver Strand
We are currently staying in the Pio Pico RV park in the Otay Mountain Wilderness. We arrived here on Friday, found a spot and spent the day regrouping. We deep cleaned the trailer, did laundry and got our “stuff” together. We ended the day with a several mile walk around the park.
Yesterday we started the day with the same walk and saw a curious Coyote. Filled 2 of our 3 propane tanks, cleaned up and headed to San Diego. Paid our first toll on CA 125. It was 2.50, the road was in great shape and traffic was light.
We stopped at Tacos El Trompo for Al Pastor. It was legit. I first had them in Dallas on a work trip and haven’t found them since then. We drove from there across the Bay Bridge and ate on the side of the road on the Silver Strand in Coronado. It was a mess and a struggle to not turn the truck orange with grease.
After lunch we turned around and found parking right near Hotel del Coronado. We walked the beach and had an expensive drink or two outside the hotel. The weather was great, 76* with a light breeze. I put my feet in the ocean as we do not know when we will be back to the pacific after this weekend.
There were a few fighter jets and troop transport planes coming into the Coronado NAS and that was pretty cool. When we left, we took the Strand and passed by the amphib base (Recon) selection, BUD/S, and the west coast teams.
We made it back around dark and just hung out. Probably going to Balboa Park today, but we’ll see.

You really are well organized. Impressive.
