Two-fer

 Hello all,

Today is going to be a two for one post as we will be on the road early tomorrow and spending the day up in Joshua tree.  Christmas Day was pretty uneventful and spent around the park,  calling and FaceTiming with family.  We took multiple walks and spent about 1.5 hours over by and in the pool/hot tub.  The temp was about 74* in the shade.  While in the hot tub and with Katy over at the trailer, I thought I felt the seat of the hot tub vibrating...turns out it was a 3.6 earthquake.  Surprise!  We continued to eat our pork roast from Christmas Eve...again with the Mexican theme with a quesadilla with pineapple and Spanish rice.

Today we headed into Palm Springs and hit the farmers market.  It was pretty sad, only 12 vendors or so and about 24 customers walking around.  We found some coffee to replace last run of Sisters Coffee Black Butte Gold (sad face).  We then walked around downtown Palm Springs which was nicer and slower paced than Palm Desert.  After a coffee and walking for about two hours, we started the mountain hike behind the Museum on the west side of town.  It turned out to be a little much and I turned around before the 1 mile mark.  Very steep with some technical spots and I wasn't equipped for the hike.  We had a "Date Shake" in downtown Palm Springs which was really good.  It is just dates blended into a vanilla shake, but it hit the spot.

On the way back to Indio, we learned a new driving technique which must be a California thing.  If you are at a 4 way intersection and have the red light, you just sneak around the vehicle in front of you "us" turn right and follow the cross walk, re-enter the lane of travel and continue in the direction you are going.  Who knew that was a thing...and legal?

Just for clarification...I'm not sure it is.

We ended the day with me going to the hot tub with two Cap steaks from Sisters Meat and Smokehouse on the pellet grill, a nice salad and bottle of Zin from Tobin James.

  1. Too bad PS wasn’t hopping like pre-Covid. There’s an amazing street fair on Thursday nights but I think it’s closed now.

Koffee (with a K) has amazing coffee. A great replacement for Sisters.

It’s too bad you aren’t staying longer, the hiking is awesome!

    1. It’s very tempting to do Camp Hosting here. We’ve been able to pick fresh citrus right in the park.
