Harvest Hosts

Katy and I joined Harvest Hosts back in August of 2020.  We’ve only utilized it a few times but it has been great.  Yesterday we drove about 15 miles north of Alamogordo and stayed at Tularosa Vineyards.  We are out in the field, backed up against Govt land with a view of the mountains to the east.

The owner of the winery is 84 and planted his grapes in 1985.  The first harvest and bottling occurred in 1989.  They have quite a selection of sweet and dry wines.  We did a tasting, had a glass and picked up a few bottles for our stay.

The military shot down a drone with a missile while we were having wine on the deck.  It was a thunderous boom that shook the deck.  I thought a jet crashed or went supersonic, Katy jumped a bit and the locals acted like nothing happened.
Then they told us what it was and that it happens quite a bit.
We also snuck in a quick family photo of the 4 of us.

Off to Carlsbad today which is a 2.5-3 hour drive.
