Standin on the Corner

Yesterday we took a ride up north to Meteor Crater and Winslow.  Our first stop was at Meteor Crater.  A few of you know I wanted to be a fighter pilot and was really interested in space as a kid...still am.  I recall seeing a picture of Meteor Crater as a kid and have wanted to see it ever since.  Well, I finally made it and it is impressive.  Thanks to Katy for following me along while I geeked out for a bit.

After Meteor Crater, we rolled further east to Winslow.  The topography of the high plateau is way different than anything else we’ve seen in AZ.  We had lunch at Relic Road Brewing.  Katy had a sampler of beer and I ended up with a mixer.  The food, atmosphere and staff were great.  They have some classic art in the Men’s Room.  Jeff Daniels.

I stood on the corner is Winslow Arizona and then we went down to check out the La Posada Hotel which is a Harvey Hotel on the BNSF - Amtrak line.  It was really cool and has a lot of history.

We got back to the campground in time to walk the kids and catch an amazing sunset.
