A Pint in Corpus
The day started early yesterday. Duncan was restless long before I planned to get up. I worked on some posts and reviewed my Spanish lessons. I then headed over to Padre Island and donated a pint of blood at the Coastal Bend Blood Center blood mobile. I try to donate every 8 weeks and have donated 4.25 gallons. It helps people and I have high iron so it benefits me too.
After having a blueberry donut in “recovery”, I came back and picked up Katy. We ran a few errands and bought some fishing equipment. Nothing fancy, just enough to get us in trouble in different states. I know...multiple people told us to bring gear and I didn’t. Now we have some not too expensive set ups that can get bounced around in our back bumper compartment.
We had lunch at Docs Seafood and Steaks on the CC Bay. The blackened Yellowfin Tacos are worth a try. We then came back and broke out the smoker. We put a small brisket on for a 3 hour smoke with a 1 hour foil finish. It didn’t turn out and was really tough. This is the third or fourth brisket and it’s clear I should stick to steaks, burgers and pork products.
We bobber fished for a few hours and only had a couple of nibbles. No takers. There was a party across the canal that was really interesting. Lots of intelligent conversation to be had. They must have started drinking the good stuff at about 10:30. There was a lot of f~#^, s#!^, and other colorful talk about fornication. We feel we received an education.
We moved the TV outside and watched for first half of the Super Bowl. I was really hoping Brady got beat...oh well. We ended the day with some KYD and LJMJ. That is Keep Your Daydream and Less Junk More Journey. I fell asleep on the couch a little after 9. Being one pint down made me a little sleepy.
