Let’s go to Luckenbach & Fredericksburg TX
Yesterday we disconnected the trailer from the truck and drove into Fredericksburg to explore the town. On the way there I realized how close we were to Luckenbach Texas so there was a small detour. No live music of food for the day, but it was a neat little stop.
The population of Fredericksburg is 10,500 which is quite a bit bigger than I thought it would be. The town is really cute and has a deep German heritage. There is a Pacific War Museum in town, but we decided to save that for another trip. We found a spot to park the kids in the shade as it was in the low 80s. We had lunch at Der Lindenbaum. Katy had the Schnitzel and I had a Rueben. It was a good sandwich, not greasy at all and had mustard vs thousand island.
We walked both sides of Main Street along the Nimitz Hotel. I toured his namesake Aircraft Carrier in 1997. We stopped in quite a few shops and got our to-go cup of wine from Grape Creek. We walked around for a bit more and then headed back to the truck. It was 86*.
We then took a little truck tour of town to the west and then down south towards the high school. Have I mentioned that this town is really nice? We also made an impromptu stop at Pedernales Vet clinic. The dogs are due for some pills and they sold them to us no questions asked...other than what do they weigh. And their price was way better than what we have paid in the past. Good to go for 3 more months!
We stopped at a winery on the way back, it was pretty fancy and the wine was just OK. They also need to find a better cartographer for their shipping locations.
After that stop, we came back and set up chairs in the parking lot on the shady side of the trailer. There was another couple with two vehicles and a trailer. They were headed back to AZ and were in a hurry. They left this morning between 6-7. For us it is road trip day. Waco is the next stop. Magnolia Farms as we have a meeting with Chip and Jo tomorrow. Lola also needs her shoes rotated and a fluid transfusion.
