Freezing Temps in Texas
Yesterday we woke up to 7* and strong winds. The power went out overnight and things started to really freeze up. We had already used a hair dryer and a torch to thaw out the outside spigots. We had to do that again. There was about 3-5” of snow with some decent drifts.
We cooked eggs and bacon in the trailer because we have a gas stove. The power came back on after 4-5 hours of being off. Tim had started a fire in the fireplace and Katy made sure it didn’t get out of hand while we went for diesel and propane. There weren’t too many people out and there were quite a few cars in the weeds. Some didn’t look too good.
Nothing was open, gas pumps were off and the rolling blackout extended 33 miles down to San Antonio. We were finally able to get diesel back near Spring Branch and found an open propane company near Blanco. We had used 1.2 gallons of propane from 5pm to 10am with it set at 67*. This was good to know, because we didn’t have much supplemental electric heat.
Our bathroom water went down for a bit, but we got it heated back up when the electricity came back on. Power went back out from 500-700ish and it went out again several times through the night.
We woke up to no power and slow moving pipes again. We need electricity to power our space heater so we can get things moving again.
