On the road again.

Yesterday we started off with some coffee and made some bacon.  Wendy made Paunukakku, (Finnish Pan Cake) or Pancakes.  I hadn’t had that since college and Katy had never tried it.  It was good!  Tim had to run into town for some travel arrangements.

Katy worked on dishes in the house with boiled pool water and I started to get the trailer ready.  We got Sis all hooked up to Lola about the time Tim got back.  We are very thankful we wound up at Tim and Wendy’s house for the weather emergency.  We were able to take care of each other and work together to get through things.  (Cutting firewood, thawing things out, mechanical work on the house and truck, cooking, dishes, etc.) As of yesterday at 5pm, still no running water at their house.

We found 3 nights at Austin East KOA Holiday.  It was only 1.5 hours on the road, but it’s good to be moving again.  We were detoured all around Austin as some overpasses still had snow and ice.  Katy did 6 loads of laundry yesterday and one on tap today.  Got some showers in which doesn’t sound like a big deal, but was the second shower in a week.  I shaved my beard, but left a goatee.  I was trimming it and noticed a bit of grays.  I may grow it back.

We also dried out our compartments and the items in them.  Overall, the trailer held up well for the extreme weather we were in.  It was only supposed to be two cold days and then rolled in for a week.  We have solar which was taking in energy even with clouds and pumps the batteries up quickly.  We also have a generator in case the SHTF.  We lucked out that I had filled the water before it shut off.

Our park has some “neighbors” known as Texas Longhorns.  I hope to get some better pictures of them in the next few days.  Lola and Sis also need a bath, bad.  Off to explore Austin.
