CHEAHA State Park
This state park in Alabama was amazing. The campground (upper loop) was spacious and clean. The people were friendly. Lots of folks we met actually lived near the park (within 45 minutes).
One couple we met had a daughter who absolutely loved Duncan. Yesterday morning she asked all sorts of questions about him. On one of our walks we stopped to chat with them again and she kneeled by Duncan and hugged him. I think he loved it too. He’s leaned against her so hard I thought he’d knock her over. It was really cute.
After our laundry trip yesterday, we got back to the park and had a drink at Vista Cliffside. The views were amazing and we would love to go back some fall to see the colors. The park also has a hotel and some amazing cabins. They are all made of stone and some would have some great cliffside views. Prices are also reasonable.
Overall, Alabama has been a big surprise and quite them gem. The weather has been a bit of a challenge, but we came out of it just fine. We drove south today and will be in Florida tomorrow. On the drive, we did travel through some tornado affected areas. The power to cause that kind of damage is unfathomable. Trees blown down all over for miles. Some snapped off 10-20’ off the ground looking like they exploded. It was surreal.
We are in Dothan, AL for the night.
