Daphne, AL

Yesterday we got up early.  Or Katy got up early to check and see if we could stay longer.  No dice and we had checked multiple times.  We were in line to put our laundry in and by the time we got our stuff out of the washer we ran out of time.  We stopped at a nice little laundromat down the road and 25 minutes later we were good.

We then drove across highway 98 to have lunch at The Oyster House.  It had been recommended by multiple people.  Katy had a crab cakes and fried green tomatoes.  I had blackened fish tacos.  It was good food and a cool old restaurant on the Delta.

We then rolled over to Mobile and got set up at our Harvest Host-Serda Brewing.  It was a cool spot off Government St, in a historical neighborhood.  We took the kids for a walk and boy it was hot.  When we got back, the brewery still wasn’t open so we set up in the shade.

While we were hanging out, Katy found a cancellation at the state park and called them immediately.  Turns out they remembered us and we were able to book 4 days on the bay.  Meaher State Park is really nice. We sped back and got partially set up.  With the storms coming in, a lot of people battened down the hatches and left their rigs here for the comfort and safety of a hotel.

I kept Sis attached to Lola and really set the stabilization Jack’s down to include the hitch jack.  I also put the X chocks in.  We hung out and watched the waves in the bay grow.  The water was coming up onto the grass.  On a side note, it was also splashing the truck and covering the highway on our drive back to Daphne.

We took a few walks around the park and our new friends also gave us several more pudding shots.  7 of them and small wooden spoons.  They are quite the boozy dessert connoisseurs.  Carrot Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Coconut and Peanut Butter with PB Whiskey.

The storm finally landed around midnight and lasted for almost two hours.  Lots of lightning, thunder and rain.  Winds for us topped out around 40.  Having nothing to slow the winds down made it feel like 60 in our rig.  Clear skies this morning.
