Fairhope, AL

Yesterday we washed and dried Lola and Sis.  Sis hasn’t been washed since Christmas and it really showed.  Lola got a quick bath in Cottonwood which was also a long time ago.  They look new-ish again.

After all the cleaning fun, we got cleaned up and headed to the town of Fairhope for a late lunch.  We ate at Sunset Pointe which was really nice.  We briefly chatted with two other couples and when we told them where we were from, one couple asked if Oregon was worth the trip.  The other guy said, Michigan, what do you think of your governor?  He and his wife then commented something about Portland being a mess.  It’s been pretty eye opening on this trip, how many outsiders have formed opinions on our two states.  Some of them have been there so I’ll give them that.  It appears the world is watching.  I’ll leave it at that.

Back to the food and drink at Sunset Pointe.  We both had Mahi, Katy a sandwich and I had the fish and chips.  The fish and chips were the best I’ve had in the continental US.  The craft cocktails shouldn’t be missed either.  The restaurant is right by the marina and I found a boat I would like to take out on the Great Lakes.  I don’t ever recall seeing 1600hp on the back of a boat. We also took a drive through the town and on the water to the Grand Hotel which was very nice.

We stopped at a farm stand on the way back and hit a Publix. We came back and walked the dogs out to the Delta boardwalk.  There were a few small gators and someone had allegedly seen a Python.  Apparently they are a huge problem these days in the Everglades.  We sat out and watched the sunset and then watched a great documentary on Muscle Shoals on Amazon Prime.  If you’re a music fan, it’s worth the time.
