Katy to Anahuac
Yesterday was not too much of a travel day. We left the Turquoise Acres Ranch and stopped at Camping World and RV Station. We were looking for a vent cover but did not find the one we are looking for. The parking lot at RV station was a little dicey, we had to unhook our sway bar to avoid breaking it off. We also stopped at the Katy Bucee’s. Pronounced Buck-ee’s. It has a cult following on the road. The pumps were a quarter mile long and there were hundreds of them. The inside was Huge. Lots to see and eat. We bought jerky, venison sausage, a sticker and a shirt.
We also went to Trader Joe’s in the suburbs. It was in the middle of an outdoor mall. I dropped Katy off and looked for parking. I found 3 spots to fit in about 300 yards away. We did a quick shop and hit the road. We got on the I-10 and headed east. It was the longest day on the freeway in weeks and I realized I didn’t miss it. The backroads were the way to go.
We made it to Anahuac, TX and got settled in at our new Harvest Host. Frascone Winery near Trinity Bay. There are several other campers here. We met a nice couple from Boise who invited us out for dinner. We ended up passing and cooking our food from the farmers market.
The winery is on the bottom floor of the house and they have quite a variety of Mead and wines. We enjoyed the Bikers Blood the most and ended up with a bottle of it. They have homemade egg rolls (Alligator and Pork). They are both delicious.
Last night it rained very hard, like I’m not sure if we’ve been in rain like that before. The local weather said 1.5-3”. Everything around the trailer is a puddle this morning. We are going to drink some coffee and move on to Louisiana.
