Muscle Shoals, AL. WOW #3.
Actually this third post takes place in two places, not Muscle Shoals, but I’m not sure how many people have heard for Florence, AL and Tuscambia, AL. We had lunch in Florence at the Wildwood Tavern. I had a Philly and Katy had the Sweet Heat Dog. We both really liked our meals.
The real attraction was a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Rosenbaum House. It is now owned by the City of Florence and was restored with the assistance of the FLW Foundation. It was such a cool house with straight lines and functionality. Mid Century Modern and there were similarities between his designs and our house. Definitely worth a stop.
The next stop was in Tuscambia at the home of Helen Keller. The family originally owned one square mile in the town and their house was the second in the entire town. Helen likely came down with something similar to Meningitis and had a high fever. After coming out of the sickness she was deaf and blind. It was really interesting seeing her childhood home. A lot of the items in the home are original items not remakes with a serving set that is 300 years old. The famous water pump is still there, albeit they have put a roof over it and a little concrete around it. Definitely worth the stop.
We ended the day with a great sunset.
