11 States...?
Yesterday was a short travel day up to Yemassee, SC. When we woke up, we noticed the power had gone out after midnight. It was still storming when I went to bed. It appeared that there was a good sized lake outside and under the trailer.
I had a nice conversation with a couple and their children about full time travel and health insurance. She looked at our plates and asked “are you really from Oregon”? I told her our story and she got off her bike to ask some more questions. It was a great chat. She said they had some homework to do when they get home.
The drive up to Thousand Trails was only a little over an hour and pretty uneventful. The park is 30 years old and needs some work. Our site is really small but it’s “free” and we think it’ll be a good base to explore from.
We walked quite a bit and made a stuffed pork tenderloin for dinner. We ended up having to “unstuff” it and cook it in a pan. On one of our walks, I was going to use the restroom and there was a black snake at face level right by the door. I decided to use the other bathroom. It turned out to be an eastern black racer. Not poisonous, but not happening. He “tracked” me as I moved.
