Foot Tour of Savannah

We rolled back to GA to explore Savannah yesterday.  It was about a 45min drive and there wasn’t much traffic.  We walked the dogs for a bit before stowing them in the trailer with the AC on for the day.  We paid to park in the lot across the street from the post office.

I think we covered a lot of ground in 4 hours.  River Street and Bay Street are worth walking both sides of.  The stairs and streets going down to the river are old school.  They are not ADA.  Lots of the streets are historic cobblestone.  We found coffee at Black Rifle and Nine Line before walking.

There are cute shops, markets and restaurants along the water.  There are also large ships and a great view of the bridge.  The parks are also really nice with live Oak and Spanish moss.  We had lunch at Moon River Brewing.  I had Coca Cola ribs and Katy had a bratwurst.

We also went to Forsyth Park and the Cathedral Basilica of St Jean the Baptist.  Both were beautiful and worth the stop.  We met three sisters at the Basilica, two from Cali and one from Virginia.  They were curious about our story and we talked for a while.

The drive back was a little busier as we wanted to get a picture of the welcome to South Carolina sign.  I95 was backed up for no apparent reason in multiple spots.  There are not any grocery stores close to the campground so we “shopped” at the gas station.

The clerk was really busy with customers.  There was a rude person in front of us who was “educating” the clerk on Juul’s.  During that time, a woman came in to say her husband was pumping gas and the pipe was leaking.  She was having a hard time getting across where he was at so I interjected it was pump 4.  The clerk reached over and turned it off.  As I was getting ready to pay, the husband came in, smelling like gas.  He was behind me over my left shoulder.  He started yelling and pointing at the clerk, swearing and carrying on.  She looked like a deer in the headlights with his rant.  I turned to him and said, “ calm the f@&k down”.  This got him to stop.  He apologized to me for “yelling in my ear” and stormed out to the McDonalds.

Back at the park, we made dinner and did two loads of laundry.  I ended up with over 9 miles in my flip flops.
