Long Point
With the storms yesterday we didn’t leave the KOA until after 12:30. Luckily our drive was only an hour and forty minutes. The drive was pretty easy, more backroads than interstates. We made it to Long Point County Park in Brevard County and check in was a breeze. We saw this campground on Keep Your Daydream’s YouTube channel.
The park roadways have been recently upgraded and are two lane blacktop. Our original spot was pretty flooded after the heavy rains so we went and asked if anything else was open. We wound up with site 57 which has great water access to the intercostal. We got everything set up and took the kids for a walk. We also took a ride to the bait shop to check out their sunglasses to replace Katy’s. No such luck. We must have seen close to a dozen dolphins in the park. Some of them were really close to shore. There was a good mix of babies and adults.
After having some leftovers we took a nice sunset paddle. We saw lots of fish, but no dolphins. There were also two little powerboats out around the same time. I think some of the crew may have had one too many. One in particular was very loud and had a tendency to “overshare” things with everyone in earshot. It was pretty comical.
Our screen door has a broken string so we are working with Lance to get that taken care of.
