Tenth State
Yesterday we drove up to Georgia. We woke to clouds and high humidity. It wasn’t supposed to rain, but it sure looked like it. I went out and loaded the kayaks and finished my new audiobook. Jack Carr is the author and the title is The Devils Hand. It is the 4th book in a series: Terminal List, True Believer, Savage Son and this one. All of them are great reads, or listens.
We got packed up pretty fast, the sun burned through and it was in the 80s in no time with near 80% humidity. The dogs got a quick lap through the park and we put them in the truck. We pulled through the dump station and then hit the road.
The drive was pretty easy. Only a few turns and I-95 north for a few hours. We stopped at Buc-ee’s in Daytona Beach and picked up lunch, a bit of breakfast for today, some snacks and diesel. We love these places. So much room for RV travelers and so much stuff in the stores. The Brisket Sandwiches are great and the Cinnamon Pecans are 👌.
We are staying at Cooked River State Park in Georgia. We are right next to Kings Bay Navy Base with the Atlantic Trident Submarine Fleet. I was able to tour one of these boats in the late 90’s. Impressive.
The park is beautiful. So well kept and in the pines. Way less humid than FL. We walked the dogs a bit and enjoyed the park. We did have to find the bug spray for the no see ums but it was a great night. There was a nice sunset and I finally saw my first “live” Armadillo. It was not impressed with Duncan and didn’t want to sit still for a photo.
