5 Months As Vagabonds

There was not much to report on Wednesday.  We had a two hour drive up to Wilmington NC that was uneventful.  The KOA here is nice, we have a back in spot near some ponds with a fountain.  The temp was 93* so we hung out in the shade and did some laundry.  Exciting day.  I guess I did head over to the pool and swim a bit in the evening.  We made steaks and bacon wrapped asparagus.

Yesterday was 5 months on the road.  Hard to believe that we are nearing the half way point of this crazy adventure.  Some of you know we’ve been talking about how to make year two work for us to stay out on the road.  Well, I took the first step the other night and applied to Florida State Parks to be a camp host.  Hopefully Jan through March or April.  Katy can do the traveling OT gig.  Hoping we can land somewhere near or in the same park as our friends.

After our usual walking of the dogs, we put them in the rig and hit the road.  We explored downtown Wilmington on foot and checked out the River Walk, the Cotton Exchange and City Market.  There is a lot of construction down by the Cape Fear River, but it’s worth a look.

We then headed out to Wrightsville Beach and had lunch at Oceanic.  Mahi fish tacos...so predictable.  They were really good.  The ocean was ripping again and it was pretty breezy.  It was a cool spot.  Post lunch, we returned to the park and walked the kids.  We met a nice couple from Illinois and traded stories about our adventures.  They’ll be fun to stay in touch with.

We ended the day with almond flour pancakes and bacon for dinner.  It was a good end to the day.
