First in Flight

Yesterday we drove down to Cape Hatteras in the outer banks.  Our first stop was in Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk.  We visited the Wright Brothers Memorial.  It was really cool to be on the grounds where powered flight started.  I didn’t realize there were 4 flights on that first day and then the engine broke.  The length of the flights also surprised me. I’m not sure I learned that in school.  We walked around the grounds and museum for almost two hours.  It was a great stop.

We then drove down to the Frisco Woods Campground.  We have a sound front site with a great view.  After setting the rig up, we headed out to explore.  The area down here is really cool.  Some spots of the banks might only be 50 yards wide.  It’s like the keys, but the water isn’t turquoise.

We’ll update things as we explore them.  The Oregon Inlet area looks really nice so we’ll probably check that out on our way north.  Off to explore today before it rains.
