Hot, hot, hot.
Monday it was 97* by about noon and stayed that way for hours, Sunday was 96*. Our host at Cedar Creek offered to run an extension cord over to us so we could charge batteries and maybe turn the AC on. We passed as the batteries were holding up and it was a test of our electric system. We just stayed in the shade and kept hydrated.
On Monday we took a ride through downtown Fayetteville to check it out. We then drove out past Fort Bragg towards Pope AAF and the Sicily drop zone. We had hoped to see a bunch of Airborne static line jumping. No such luck. Back into Fayetteville, we stopped downtown and found a shaded spot for us and the dogs to grab some lunch. Archway Burgers, Dogs and Beer was a great stop. My burger was simple and one of the best of our entire trip.
We went back and played some games, chatted with the host a bit and talked with our neighbors from Wisconsin. We got things to cool down to 75* overnight.
Yesterday we drove 3.5 hours WNW to the Mountains, NC High County. The drive was pretty and pretty uneventful, except for the guy who missed his exit and nearly sideswiped us and the trailer. He pulled back just in time and took the I-40 even though he didn’t want to.
Our new park is really nice. We got backed in right along a small creek and got set up. Upon opening the door, we found our bottom drawer almost all the way on the floor. It was held on by one twisted track. This is the second time. After the first we had been putting the dog food in front of it. Forgot that this time. I was thrown off by having the dogs travel with us. We made a quick Lowe’s and Walmart run. Had a fast thunderstorm and made some repairs.
Off to explore today. One of our friends made a National Parks Bingo board, we are doing pretty good with it.
