More Parkway Travels
Yesterday we caught a walk and another KB workout. I’m shooting for 300 swings a day for 30 days (150 per arm). After all that, we loaded the kids up and brought them along as it was supposed to storm.
We headed north to Blowing Rock and picked up a bag of local coffee from Camp Coffee. I can tell you the coffee is really good as I’m having a cup now. Based on the worker’s recommendations, we then went to Bistro Roca for lunch. The Bistro is really cute and reminds us a bit of Pine Tavern in Bend. The guy running the wood fired oven was working his butt off and it was impressive to watch him work. The brisket tacos were good too. We also found some White Oak Pastures meat when we were up in Boone. You may remember we visited this farm back in March-ish. I was pretty excited.
We then took off driving north on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We went 15-20 miles. It was a very picturesque drive. There seemed to be fewer overlooks and more houses along this stretch. None of them are truly accessed from the parkway though.
We got a little bit of rain while we were up in the mountains and returned to the trailer in the afternoon to find a lake around it. One of our neighbors commented on how hard it was raining, but we had missed it. That is until 9pm. Wow, what a torrential downpour. We had been fighting our fantastic fan to stay open with all the humidity. I think there were water droplets on the sensor. We finally got it to stay open and then it stayed open during the heaviest part of the storm. Break out the towels….
