The Mountains Are Calling
Yesterday we walked the dogs through the park (3miles) then did a kettlebell workout. It was long overdue and I’m glad we got it in. It was almost 80* with 90% humidity by 11.
After getting cleaned up, we took a ride up to check out Blowing Rock. It was a great stop and we think you should check it out if you’re in the area. The views are awesome and we would love to see it in the fall. There’s a couple short hikes around the rock and it’s worth the price of admission. $7-9 for adults.
We met a couple who pulled up along the truck and told us we are a long way from home. Their son works for Nike in Beaverton. They come to the high country as it’s always cooler up here.
After Blowing Rock, we rolled up to Boone. Boone is the home of Appalachian State. You know, the D2 team who beat my Wolverines in Football when we moved to Oregon. When I became and Oregon fan… On a more serious note, we love this town.
We walked around on the main street and visited the Mast General Store. They have a little bit of everything to include Winkler Knives and a Winkler Tomahawk. I want both, just for show, someday. We then had a beer/cider at Lost Province Brewing Co. It was a great stop and it took will power to not cancel our workout with the Woodfired Pretzel with beer cheese. It looked amazing.
We then took a ride up to the local KOA to see how it looked. We got caught in a “pop up” thunderstorm on the way home. We got back and did laundry, made dinner and had our own little evening pop up shower. Great day.
