Driving Towards Memphis

Again, yesterday was our 6 month anniversary of full time travel.  We left the winery at about 10am for the 2:20 drive towards Memphis.  We are about an hour east of the city.  The drive down was very pretty.  A decent chunk of it was along the Natchez Trace Parkway.  The speed limit is 50 the road is in great shape and the scenery is
👌 We stopped at the gravesite of Merriweather Lewis.  You know…Lewis and Clark.  Based on his writings, they came up with a timeline or date when he died.  We drove along the Civil War trail and past the Shiloh Battlefield.  In two days of war, there were over 23,000 casualties.  The road west also brought us along the trail of tears.  So much history along this drive, lots of it not great history, but important to remember.  A little more history, we passed the house of Sheriff Buford Pusser.  Famous in the south for going after bootleggers and prostitution.  He was killed in a car crash.  Our campground isn’t the nicest, but we got into a tight water spot.  To celebrate our 6 months, we split a bottle of Blanc from Heath Sparkling Wine and played 8 games of Yahtzee.  We were also treated to a nice sunset.
