Extreme Heat in Memphis
Our campground is about an hour east of Memphis. It’s been a little warm the past few days. The humidity is very high. We’re waking up to 80* with 95% humidity. Yesterday the temp reached 96* and the heat index was 104*.
We haven’t done a ton of exploring. We spent some time in the Memphis Suburbs in Germantown and tried some Memphis BBQ. The pulled pork was a little dry. The brisket was moist and had really good flavor. It was a little tough. Texas BBQ has it beat in my opinion. The Germantown Commissary was a cool stop though.
Yesterday we went right down to the river in Memphis. The Bass Pro pyramid is really cool. With the sun out it will blind you. We picked up a few staples. Coffee and a new hat from Black Rifle. We headed over to Mud Island Park but with the temps it was a ghost town and we also passed on taking a walk. We had hoped to drive into Arkansas as neither of us have been there. So close to a new state, but I40 is closed and the other route in is really backed up.
We rolled down to Beale St and the town was eerily quiet. We walked Beale for an hour and called it a day. Maybe it’s busier at night and more enjoyable when it’s not too hot.
Back to Sis for games and AC with the kids. Sorry, not much of a report on Memphis.
