Long travel day
Yesterday we rolled out of Honeysuckle Meadows, headed for Lynchburg. The road is a narrow two lane and pretty curvy. We drove it the other day without the trailer. We got past the bad spots and then traffic stopped. Our GPS said there was a crash and an 11 minute delay. After a 1/2 hour, we had moved a 100 yards or so. A car came by the opposite direction and said the bridge was closed due to a wreck.
Lots of people started doing Austin Powers 1,000 point turns and heading back the other way. We were fortunate to find someone’s land with a large work area to turn around in. After an hour on the road, we were about 7 miles from our starting point.
We drove up through Knoxville and are bummed out that we didn’t go check it out on a rainy day. Traffic on I40 was a mess. The truck drivers just go and make people get out of the way. Some people we met a few months ago were involved in a crash with a semi recently. They were not injured which is great and we’ve had a few close calls. There was another wreck on.I75 NB that had all lanes closed. The news said 6 people went to the hospital.
We arrived at Prichard’s Distillery in Kelso, TN at about 3:30 because we are back on Central Time. Chattanooga TN looked like a cool place to go back to.
The distillery is really cool, everything is made on site and their origin story is awesome. The distillery is in an old school house. We parked and checked things out. It was sunny, hot and humid so we ended up parking behind the barn. This was a great Harvest Host stop. Oh, there were more fireflies than I have ever seen last night. Pictures and video did not turn out well.
