Rough Travel Day

Yesterday we left Asheville for Sevierville TN.  My phone was on the fritz so navigation was messed up too.  We knew the drive was going to be 2:24 and that we were taking the I-40 west.  Traffic wasn’t too bad and as we got to the 15ish mile marker still in NC, we stopped at a rest area to try out the navigation again.  We also went in and used the bathroom.

We were able to type in the address to the truck GPS and off we went.  As we got to the end of the on ramp, traffic was at a standstill.  Katy did some research and found there was a wreck or vehicle fire near the TN border 15 miles ahead and traffic was backed up that far.

Long story short, we ended up arriving 2:40 later than planned.  We got stuck in a tunnel for 5 minutes and were nearly rear ended by a semi when traffic decided to stop suddenly.  The semi driver got on the shoulder and shot past us, stopping about 10’ in front of the truck.  Close call, we almost lost our home and transportation.  As Marc and Trish would say, it was a “dip” day.

We found our park and got set up.  We are really looking forward to checking this area out.  Pigeon Forge looks a little touristy so we’ll see how that goes.
