20th State, Caverns, LE Beer
Yesterday we got up and it was raining pretty good. We hung out for a bit and people started coming to the caverns pretty early. We left our spot at about 1030 and got tickets for the Natural Wonder tour. The next available was at 1130.
We went back down to our camping spot and took care of some emails, etc. The tour started promptly at 1130 and we had a good sized group. The cave was not like the other caves we’ve been in. It wasn’t very big as far as width and high ceilings. The deepest we got was about 100’ under Mt Tabor.
There were some awesome stalagmites and stalactites in the cave, many of them are crystals. Our tour guides turned the lights out at one point, yep, it was pitch black. We enjoyed the tour, but felt it would be better as a go at your own pace tour. Especially where the trail is narrow and the ceiling is 5’ high. Stopping to chat in those tunnels and talk about the cave could’ve been avoided. It was a good tour overall though.
We had a 4 hour drive over to our 20th state, Indiana. We had a brief detour near Mercer, OH due to a fire. It appeared that an older gentleman was losing his house. There were no visible flames, but I’ve only seen smoke boil like that a few times. It looked bad. I hope the firefighters stayed safe and were able to salvage some of it.
We arrived at our Harvest Host, 10-56 Brewing in Knox Indiana. It is owned by a retired Indiana State Trooper and his wife. We had a designated spot with 15a hookup for the AC. I drug the trailer coming in from the wrong side of the road. We had to patch a little grass. They have, beer, cider, wine and food. We had some drinks and a few snacks. It was a great time, Mike and Erica are great hosts. There were 3 other campers staying the night. This is a great place to stop.
