4th Of July
Boy, a lot has changed in the past year. It’s the 4th of July, Independence Day. Remember everything that comes with this day and what it means, celebrate it, enjoy it. Freedom.
A year ago we were drinking coffee in the morning and decided to list our house. If you’ve followed along on our crazy adventure, you know the roads we’ve taken to get where we are. It’s been a crazy ride, but we’ve experienced a different type of Freedom the past 9 months. We wouldn’t trade the experience for the world.
Yesterday we went up into Shenandoah National Park. We went up the 81 and took the 211 into the park. We then drove south on Skyline Drive until we hit the 33 and came back. The drive through the park was 34 miles with a 35mph speed limit. I also stopped at 3/4 of the overlooks to take pictures.
We also stopped at Skyland and Big Meadow lodges. The park and drive are beautiful. We saw a lot of deer and a fawn or two. I also ran over a squirrel our first non bug related casualty of the trip.
When we got back, we took the easy route and ate some leftovers for dinner. The dogs of course got all their walks in and we hung outside for quite a while. The temp was nice and the humidity was low. In the words of Ice Cube. It was a good day.
