FLW FallingWater

Yesterday we left the winery at about 0930 and headed south through the Pennsylvania countryside.  The day started out foggy, but nice.  We threw the ball for the kids before leaving.  It was about a 1:20 minute drive to our destination.  We drove a bunch of backroads that showed us Pennsylvania is steeper than we thought.  I had assumed we would be getting to more rolling hills by now.

We arrived at Falling Waters with our self guided tour tickets which we weren’t overly excited about.  I had called to see if there were any cancellations and there were not.  When we got to the gate, they said we could always ask at the information desk.  There was plenty of bus and RV parking.

The grounds around Fallingwater are amazing and well kept.  We let the dogs out, put them in the canopy with water and went to check things out.  We went to Information and were able to upgrade to the architectural interior tour.  Doesn’t hurt to ask.  We walked around the grounds and waited for our tour.

The tour was really well set up.  It’s hard to imagine how Frank Lloyd Wright came up with this design.  It’s built right into the surrounding nature.  The house is designed to the height of the family and invites occupants to go outside.  There were several places where we couldn’t take pics, but I got them where I could.

After our tour, it was more countryside on our way to Trax Farms for the night.  We shopped and met some other Harvest Host campers for the night.  Steve and Diane have been traveling for 14 months and were fun to talk to.
