Gettysburg Museum
Yesterday we went into town and checked out the museum. We paid for the movie, cyclorama and museum. I think it was $15 for adults. While in line, we saw a cute couple that we aspire to be someday. We just need the safari vests.
The movie about Gettysburg was good and narrated by Morgan Freeman. The cyclorama is almost 377’ long and was a really cool experience as well. It’s hard to believe how old it is (I think the 1870’s) and all the places it’s been. It’s quite the painting and worth checking out the show.
The museum is also great. Well thought out and contains some cool pieces of history. We’ve been to a few places along this trip. We could see Fort Sumter from Charleston and that is where the Civil War started, we’ve now been to Gettysburg July 1-3, 1863 and that was the Union turning point of the war. We’ve also been to Vicksburg Mississippi which was won by the Union on 7/4/1863 and gave control of the Mississippi River. We also stopped at Lincoln’s Birthplace in Kentucky and traveled around the area that formed his childhood. It’s been an awesome experience.
After the museum, it was 100* again and we stopped for lunch at the Dobbin House. It was established in 1777. The food was good, but the Tuna special was more than I thought. I also didn’t ask for a second wine, but whatever, it was hot.
We went to a pretty sadly stocked Walmart for supplies and then the Giant grocery store as (today) is a moving day. The afternoon was spent just hanging out in the heat and trying to fix the shower drain. It had a leak. Caulking will do for now and I’ll remove it in Michigan and do a proper repair when we are settled.
