The road to TC
Yesterday we left Ludington to get closer to Traverse City. Our Boondockers Welcome hosts came by to visit and they were really nice. They went to Alaska a few years ago and only spent $670 on lodging in 90 days. That is professional level travel. We left at noon and pointed the rig north.
We stopped in the town of Manistee because it looked cute. There was plenty of parking at Veterans Park. We walked the downtown area for about an hour and checked out a few shops. Surprisingly there were quite a few places not open on Sunday.
We kept heading north and stopped at Northern Natural Cider house based on a recommendation. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Their product is not super sweet and reminded us our our friends at Tumalo Cider in Oregon. We split three flights and then left with a few 4 packs.
We had about 20 miles to go and pulled into our Harvest Host for the night at about 4pm. Iron Fish Distillery had a great parking spot for us so we put the kids in the shade and went to get a seat. We had some food from King Wubbz food truck and tried a few drinks from the list. They were excellent and we walked with a few bottles.
We recommend all of these stops if you are on the west side of lower Michigan. I forgot to mention, we caught all our favorite shows looking over a field of Rye.
Our neighbor at Iron Fish returned at about 9:30 and turned their generator on. At about 10:15, I politely asked them to shut it down the the night. The guy said they were showering and would turn it off soon. I think he turned it off at 10:40. We thought it was a bit rude to not follow the Harvest Host rules.
