Traverse City
Monday we rolled into TC pretty early in hopes of getting an early check in. We were advised at the gate there were no exceptions and check in was 3pm. It was noon. We were also advised we needed to purchase a daily access pass for $9 a day for MI state parks. The annual was $34. Seeing we are here for 4 days, we spun up some common core math and decided to get the annual.
We then rolled over to the dump station to offload gray water. This was the first dump station I’ve been to that was “manned”. The guy was very particular about things, but was nice enough. After we dumped, he said we could see if our site was open. It was 12:20 and it was open. We got set up and headed for the laundromat and grocery store.
After laundry we walked to the beach and hung out for a bit. We then walked back and played some games. Our neighbors are from Kentucky and really nice.
Yesterday we biked into town and walked all over the place. We checked out some cool shops, Taproot Cider and Grand Traverse Distillery. The ride was a little over 8 miles and on a nice bike path.
At Taproot, we enjoyed the cider and some small plates. We also met a couple from Virginia that was very nice. They are staying just down the road and have a dog named Duncan. Her moms dog is named Maggie…coincidence?
We came back and smoked some meats, played games and chatted with the neighbors. Katy got conned by a 5 year old to go on a few bike rides too.
