30 Days in the UP

Well, time flies when you’re having fun.  We were in the Yoop from July 30th to August 30th.  Sixteen days in LA and fourteen in Marquette.  We saw family and friends, explored and relaxed.  Spent some time in and on the lake, rode 170 miles exploring on a Polaris General and biked a lot in Marquette.  177 Miles for me.  Over 200 for Katy.

We put new tires on the truck and had it serviced.  We serviced the trailer axles and cleaned the roof.  Installed a vent cover and re caulked the windows.  We also had the trailer serviced to get our blank tank flush up and running.

I’m glad we biked a lot and that I continued with my kettlebell swings.  I’m at 96 consecutive days of 300 swings and am now alternating the 45lb bell in.  I even did them if it was 11:30 at night.  This helped with the overindulgence with the UP food favorites for me.  We made a stop at Vangos this past week after taking the bikes over there.  In college, my roommate and I would go there so often, they would just put our order in.  Two of the same staff are there from 2000-2002.

I consumed a bit of Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream and we picked up some cardamom Trenary Toast.  It’s like a hard Finnish Ocean Roll.  We also had Tostada from the Ambassador, maybe twice.  Remember, the biking and swings kind of leveled it out.

Yesterday we hit the road with Maine as a destination in Oct. We have a month with no reservations, just a general direction.  Not gonna lie, it felt weird to leave.  We only moved the trailer 3 times in a month.  Who knows what the next few months or year will bring, but we’ll be moving.  I think we’ll be in the UP later in the fall of 22’. Until then, we’ll try to Live a Good Story.
