15 Year Anniversary
Yesterday we celebrated 15 years of marriage. Almost 17 years together. We headed into Lake Placid and had brunch at Generations. The Benedict and blueberry infused pancakes were very good. We came back and let the dogs out one more time before exploring.
We headed up to the top of Whiteface Mountain. It was $20 per person to drive up. Again, lots of construction and I feel the rate should’ve been reduced. The elevator was closed to get to the top so not everyone could check out the view. The hike up was short, but steep and very rocky. There were very few steps or stairs which make the hike a barrier to some. I would not recommend flip flops or slide on shoes like Danscos. I had my New Balance shoes on and they worked fine. More on that later.
The view from the top was awesome, it will be even better in a few weeks with the color change. I videoed the walk down on time lapse, it’s on the Gram. Back to my shoes. Katy refers to them as grandpa shoes. When we were hanging out at the gift shop area, there was definitely a grandpa wearing the same shoes. They were cheaper than my usual Brooks…
We drove down the mountain and back towards town. I wanted to check out High Falls Gorge, but it was $13 per person. Not worth it as we have seen a bunch of falls for way less so we passed on it. We tried to hit up a few lodges for an afternoon drink and appetizers and struck out. We ended up at The Cottage on the water and it was really nice. After that we came back and played some games. Had a nice bottle of wine and a grocery store cupcake and watched some movies. Pretty chill day and a great way to celebrate 15 years.
