22nd State

Well, we made it to New York today.  It was only about ten minutes from the winery.  We followed the 5 to Buffalo and it was a great drive.  Buffalo looks nice, but we didn’t stick around to check it out.  We headed north to Grand Island and found our Boondockers Welcome spot.

We headed for Trader Joe’s and picked up a few things.  We also decided to check out Niagara Falls at night as they light the falls up.  We had some time to kill so we did some route planning for the next few weeks.  We fed and watered the kids and took off just before 7.

Parking was free at the park which is not always the case.  The police officer on duty in the lot said that the state is sometimes nice to the people.  We walked all over the place in our flips and didn’t realize or plan for a long walk.  If you are here, check out both falls.  The walk is nice and the park was pretty quiet.  American falls is cool, Horseshoe falls is unreal.  It has about 9 times the volume and is over twice as wide.

The lights were pretty visible at about 8.  We walked back over to American falls and got some good shots.  The sun set behind Niagara Falls Canada and the thumbnail moon came out.  The falls colors were red, white and blue.
