9 Months on the road.
Friday marked 9 months on the road. Our expectations have been blown out of the water. If this type of trip is on your bucket list, try to make it happen. We have been in 22 states and as of Friday evening, had put on 25,164 miles. People often ask if we are retired or rich. We are neither of those. This lifestyle can be lived very expensive or very frugal, it just depends on what you want out of it. I think our outlook has changed. You can do a lot more and stay out longer when you are frugal.
We drove from Grand Island NY to the Finger Lakes region of NY. It was a 2 hour drive through the countryside and in some places the leaves are slowly starting to change. We got set up at our Boondockers Welcome near their barn and exercised the kids a bit. We then put them inside and went out to explore.
We drove up to Keuka Lake and found a winery. Hunt Country is set up on a hill. No direct views of the lake, but a beautiful setting. Their wine is good too. They gave us a locals rundown and a map of the area. There’s a ton of things to do up here, it could take weeks to explore. We took a ride to Penn Yan and had NY style pizza before driving down the east side of the lake. One more stop on the way back at Weis Vineyards. Their building is new and has a great view of the lake. Their wines are also good.
Back to the trailer by 6, we ran the dogs a bit and had some Michigan ravioli for dinner. Great day.
