Driving East
Yesterday we had a nice drive over to Pennsylvania. Traffic was a little sporty around Cleveland, but other than that it was nice. We got fuel in Cleveland too, it was our most expensive fill to date. It was $90, but we also let the truck get to 25 miles to empty.
We took a drive out and around Presque Isle State Park. It is pretty shut down at this point. Beach repairs were being made before the winter season and lots of places were closed. It would’ve been fun to bike around if we had more time. The drive through Erie, PA was nice. There are some really cute neighborhoods with a lot of brick houses. We took the 5 up to our destination and it’s a nice road off the beaten path.
We arrived at South Shore Wine Co which is a Harvest Host and got parked. We opened some windows, turned the fan on for the dogs and went in for a wine tasting as it was getting close to closing. Did I mention I also opened the skylights? Another Harvest Host member came in about 15 minutes after us. She sat down and mentioned that it had rained pretty hard. I jumped up and ran out to the trailer to find our dining area and bed had a bit of water on them. I wiped up what I could and hung out blanket to dry. It all worked out as it didn’t rain long. I guess I should be more aware of darkish clouds when putting those up.
The wines were good and we walked away with two bottles. We had no idea that there are over 30,000 acres of grapes growing in the Erie, PA region. That’s a lot of grape juice.
