White Mountain Driving Tour
Yesterday we took a driving tour around Mt Washington. It was a beautiful drive and we really like this part of the country. The town of Gorham is nice. Our neighbors explored south and plan on doing the Cog Railway today.
We got to the Mt Washington Auto Road and found it was $39 for the driver and vehicle and $14 for an adult passenger. Although it would have been cool to check out the summit, we didn’t want to spend $53 to check it out on a cloudy day.
After leaving there, we continued down to North Conway and wandered the downtown. We bought some balsamic vinegars and then headed out for lunch. Barley and Salt was a cool setting, but a bit overpriced for a lunch. We wandered around and downloaded some movies on the WiFi before heading back to the campground.
We stopped at the Alpine Garden Winery and tried a few ciders before getting back. We also stopped at a few places in Crawford’s Notch to take some pics. Such a cool area. It started raining about 5pm and rained all night. We played some Yahtzee and watched a few movies.
We also found more working pay phones on this trip. One was at our campground (Dry River) as there is no service and the other was at the North Conway visitor center.
