Acadia, Bar Harbor, Penobscot

Yesterday Duncan and I got up for sunrise.  It was really nice, but not as nice as the day before.  We ended up chatting with a guy from Tennessee.  He and his wife travel for about 5 weeks every fall.  We discussed where each of us have been in our travels.  It was a nice conversation.

After breakfast we drove up to Bar Harbor and Acadia.  It was a nice drive and I feel like the fall colors are better up there.  Bar Harbor is a cute town.  There were a ton of cars but it didn’t seem too busy.  There were some guys in black coats who wouldn’t let us back on our boat.  The police were of no help either.  Someone left the garage door open on it, so I assume our jet skis or CC are gone.  It’s a travesty.

On to Acadia.  We’ll, we should’ve known better than to try the park on a long holiday weekend.  There was no parking left at any of the “hotspots” but we were able to take the loop road and check things out a bit.  It turned into a scouting mission for Monday or Tuesday as the weather will still be good.  We’ll head back up and hopefully things will have slowed down a bit.  There was and endless line of RVs heading east.  More to come on Acadia adventures.

On the way home we stopped at Penobscot Narrrows and I went up to the observation deck in the bridge tower.  It was a great perspective being 420’ above the water.  If it’s a clear day, do not miss this.  Clear and cool days are the best according to the workers, it keeps the haze down.

When we got back, we walked the dogs and then had a fire with the couple we met in New Hampshire.  They are in a Wanderlodge Bird.  It was pretty windy, but it was a nice evening.
