Maine (28th State)
Yesterday we took a ride up to Maine. I started the day with an alarm clock and Duncan and I caught the sunrise. It was a special father and son moment. There were probably a dozen people out there to see it. It didn’t disappoint.
The drive was not too bad. I did receive a honk from an impatient Mass driver when I merged and they had to get in the next lane. Horn honking is a complex language in Massachusetts. In Boston it’s on a whole new level, glad we drove around the city.
We crossed into Maine and drove up to Portland. We stopped at Trader Joe’s and Whole Paycheck. I stayed in the rig and had to drive around with the trailer. At TJ’s I was finally able to snag a spot that had been occupied by a class A and toad. At Whole Paycheck, I parked in 10 of the 15 spots for Amazon Flex. An east coast Portlander or 1st Portlander let me know I shouldn’t be parked there. I wanted to tell him my thoughts, but just said “I know”. He shook his head and kept walking. Only one car actually came to get what I assume was an Amazon package.
We continued on to Freeport, dumped tanks, got set up, ran the dogs and went to explore. The LL Bean fall fest is going on and we spent some time walking around the campus and town. We’ll go back when there’s more time. We came back and got a fire going, made some Brats and relaxed.
