The First State. (30)

Turns out the first state is actually our 30th state.  After 6 days of no or mixed hookups, we rolled towards Delaware and water and electricity.  We drove the New Jersey countryside and crossed at the Delaware Memorial Bridge.  The toll was only $10, way cheaper that the Philly crossing.

Delaware is our last new state for this trip, everything else is on repeat.  We are going to stay the night in Maryland to fill in the map, but we’ve both been through it.  The drive down the Delaware 1 was really nice.  We went past Dover AFB and you could see the tail fins of the giant transport planes from the road.  The countryside was nice here too.

We rolled into our campground near Lewes and dumped tanks.  After 6 days, the gray was pretty full.  The fresh was starting to sputter so we would’ve had to find a spigot if we were out longer.  We definitely could do less “dish” intensive meals.  After tanks, we got registered and came to set up.  Katy swept the pine needles and sand out before we pulled in.  The campground is nice and we are really close to the ocean.

We walked the kids and then went in search of a late lunch.  Agave in Lewes was a great spot.  The food and drinks were great.  The downtown area is nice and has a bunch of cute shops.  We didn’t explore them as we don’t have room for trinkets.  Instead we headed back towards the campground and went to the north end of the beach.

We walked along the beach for over an hour.  It was in the 70’s, the sand was nice to walk on and watched the ships come and go.  We also found some cool rocks and some sea glass.  After the beach, we came back to do some laundry and relax.  Nice travel day.
