Old Dogs and new tricks

Monday was pretty uneventful.  Katy was still under the weather.  We took a quick ride and then came right back.  It’s been a bit windy and the acorns, branches and leaves have been falling on the site.  The noise of them hitting the roof really freaks Duncan out.  I gave him a little Benadryl and he slept hard.  He was also a bed hog and has been getting worse by the day, week, month and year.

Duncan is 6 and has been sharing our bed since he was a puppy.  He has no concept of space now that he is 80lbs.  We used to have a king bed, but since being in the trailer are squeezed into a queen.  Is it too late to get him out for good?

I did get in a good bike ride to the gulf with Faith in the early afternoon.  My new Fox bike helmet is way nicer than my 5 year old Bell.  The bike is holding up well, except for the tires.  It came with slicks from the factory and they are starting to “level off” in the center.  No snakes on this ride.

Yesterday Katy was back to feeling good and we headed for town to follow up on work.  The owner wasn’t in so we have to go back today.  We took a ride down to Homosassa and tried the Taco Pizza special at The Monkey Bar.  It was good and the closest to an Ambassador Tostada.

We came back to the rig and got ready to head out for a bike ride.  We ended up doing a quick clean of the rig, mostly the bathroom.  At 3:15 we headed out on our ride.  As you may remember, we had some issues with a dog nesting through our bed recently.  During our inquisition, Maggie was the one telling us she did it.  Of course we put her in the new kennel for our bike ride and headed out.

The ride with Faith and Troy was nice.  We saw a Pod of Dolphins down at the gulf and watched them for several minutes.  On the ride back, we saw a snake.  Well, Katy and Faith saw the snake.  By their description, it was a yellow rat snake.  When we got back, Duncan had dug a hole through our new bamboo sheets and our new mattress pad.

Duncan then went in the kennel and we headed for Dunnellon.  We got another set of sheets and a new mattress pad.  After a quick Mexican dinner, we came back and did laundry, finished cleaning the rig and remade the bed.  It turned out to be a busy evening.  We also started with Duncan not in bed and I told him to get out the first time he got in.  Somewhere during the night he got in without me feeling it and I awoke to nearly no covers.  There’s still work to be done.  This morning brings new Black Rifle Coffee and a new day of old dog new tricks.
