Rainbows and Broken Toes

Yesterday morning I struck back out to job hunt.  Young Boats is hiring, but I was stopped when I told them where we live.  That started the conversation on how long we are around.  I went back to the bait and tackle store for a third time and they still haven’t hired.  I was shot down again.

On the way back to the park, I called Ford and Rural King again and left messages.  Katy printed out some apps for us to fill out at a kayak shop.  We’ll drop those off today.

We took the kids for a quick lap and then loaded up the boats.  We drove over to the KP Hole park and met up with Faith and Troy and their friends from Oregon.  We filled up Katy’s paddle board and hit the water.  Katy noted that the launch ramp was slick when I got her boat in the water.  I grabbed my board and approached the ramp.  I didn’t notice where my feet were with my board and slipped and fell.  I wound up soaked up my left side and collapsed on my right foot and toes.  I felt them crack.

I had a good but painful paddle up the Rainbow River to Rainbow Springs State Park.  It was uncomfortable but beautiful.  It was hard to stand and painful to kneel.  Katy and I called it short and went back to KP and took out.  The rest of the crew went past the launch and ended at Swampys.  The paddle was a mix of Hosmer and the Deschutes for those of you who know those places.

We came back to the rig and had some beverages.  The neighbor brought me some pain meds (Crown Royal) on ice.  We cooked some pork chops and watched Finding Our Someday.
